  • “Routes of sustainability”: 6th edition of “Salone CSR IS” (Corporate and Social Responsibility and Social Innovation Fair)

    The 6th edition of the “Salone CSR IS” is being organised. The event - promoted by the Global Compact Network Italy together with Bocconi University, the CSR Manager Network, Unioncamere, the Sodalitas Foundation, and Koinètica - is the most highly anticipated event for those involved in sustainability and social innovation.

    For the 2018 edition, the fair has expanded its presence in Italy taking place in 10 cities in its tour of Italy(Giro d’Italia della CSR): after Salerno, Turin, Udine, Rome, Perugia, Genoa and Florence, the “Salone” will be in Bologna, Cosenza and Verona until the end of May.   

  • 2nd edition "High Level Meeting": Report published about the debate between G. Kell, former General Director UNGC, and the Italian companies involved in the 2030 Agenda

    The second edition of theBusiness & SDGs High Level Meeting was held at the Edison SpA headquarters in Milan on 18th May. It was sponsored by the GCNI Foundation as an opportunity to encourage a shared reflection at the highest level amongst prominent actors in the national sphere, regarding the role the private sector is called upon to play in support of the 2030 UN Sustainable Development Agenda. People from the highest offices (Presidents, Managing Directors, Leading Managers) of large and medium-sized Italian companies from various production sectors, with a solid sustainability profile, met together around the table: A2A, AirPlus International, Alcantara, BNL – Gruppo BNP Paribas, Borsa Italiana, E&Y, Enel, Edison, Gruppo Hera, Saipem, Salini Impregilo.

  • 3^ Business & SDGs Workshop: "Sustainable Supply Chain Management Systems: Comparative Experiences"

    The inclusion of sustainability issues in Supply Chain Managementactivities implies the willingness of organizations to measure, monitor and evaluate their performance, taking into account the existing trade offbetween the economic, social and environmental dimensions from a triple bottom line (TBL) viewpoint. This approach allows companies to have a comprehensive, and above all, strategic vision of the Supply Chain: reducing supply and distribution costs; defining cooperation and coordination relationships with their suppliers; and improving customer satisfaction.

  • Global Compact Network Italy chooses Bureau Veritas as Technical Partner for the TenP Platform

    It was within the sphere of those companies that verify and select their suppliers and subcontractors on the basis of their sustainability performance that the agreement giving Bureau Veritas Italia the role of the operating branch of the Global Compact Network Italy (GCNI) was made.

    The TenPPlatform was developed by the GCNI Foundation to support companies involved in collecting, analyzing, and sharing information on their suppliers’ sustainability performance. It is based on an online self-assessment questionnaire, itself based on the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact, taking into account the key international standards and conventions on business sustainability.

    Le Piccole e Medie Imprese affrontano sfide importanti nel concretizzare il percorso di sostenibilità aziendale. L’incontro, promosso dall’UN Global Compact Network Italia per il prossimo 5 aprile, si propone di evidenziare i vantaggi loro offerti con la partecipazione alla più grande iniziativa globale sul tema: il Global Compact delle Nazioni Unite. Attualmente, la maggior parte degli aderenti all’UN Global Compact è rappresentata da PMI, realtà con meno di 250 dipendenti, contando circa 9.000 partecipanti sugli oltre 15.000 totali.

    Il webinar si rivolge alle PMI interessate a conoscere meglio l’iniziativa UN Global Compact e le opportunità offerte dal Network italiano, presentando una panoramica degli strumenti di sostenibilità potenzialmente utili a realtà di piccole dimensioni nei campi dell’autovalutazione, della pianificazione e reportistica basate sugli SDGs; della gestione della diversità e dell’inclusione; degli approvvigionamenti circolari nel settore privato.

  • SUSTAINABILITY IN IMAGES, PIMCO's photo contest that enhances small everyday gestures

    The "Italian Sustainability Photo Award" is the photographic competition organized by PIMCO with the aim of raising awareness of sustainability in Italy (with three special focuses on the environment, society and governance). The prizes will be awarded to the photographs that succeed in telling, with more effectiveness and quality, the progress of the Sustainable Development Objectives at the national level. The subject of the shots should be situations and aspects related to everyday life in its many facets.

    A prestigious jury of international photographers, photo editors and journalists will award the prizes for Best Single Photo and Best Photographic History.

    In addition, the best proposal in terms of photographic project will be selected and will receive a contribution of 10,000 euros.

    The initiative is organized under the auspicies of the Italian Network of the Global Compact, which will take part in the final award ceremony.

    Deadline for submission is 28 February 2020.

  • The 12th United Nations Global Compact-Accenture CEO Study

    CEOs are facing an enormously challenging global context, with the vast majority (93%) experiencing 10 or more simultaneous challenges to their businesses and 87% warning that current levels of disruption will limit delivery of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), finds the largest CEO study on sustainability ever conducted by the UN Global Compact and Accenture (NYSE: ACN). While CEOs are increasingly concerned about these headwinds, nearly all (98%) agree that sustainability is core to their role, a sentiment that has grown 15 percentage points over the last 10 years of the study.

    The 12th United Nations Global Compact-Accenture CEO Study draws on insights from more than 2,600 CEOs across 128 countries, 18 industries, and over 130 in-depth interviews — making this the largest-ever sampling of executives, including the biggest group of CEOs from the Global South, since the start of the CEO study program in 2007. In the study, CEOs forewarn about the impact of converging setbacks for business and society, from faltering multilateralism and socioeconomic instability to supply-chain interruptions and the immediate effects of climate change.

  • The Feralpi Group is a Partner of Ten-P, the platform for sustainable supply chain management.

    The Feralpi Group, European leader in the production of steels for the construction industry, has joined the Ten-P - Sustainable Supply Chain Self-Assessment Platform active since 2016 and managed by Global Compact Network Italy.

    The Ten-P Platform works as a monitoring and evaluation tool to support companies’ commitment to ethical and sustainable management of their own supply chains.

  • The UN Global Compact Toolkit for Purchasing Offices for the promotion of decent work along the supply chain presented for the first time in Italy

    Supply chains are the most important levers for companies to create positive impacts in the world, with about 80% of global trade passing through them every year.

    For this reason, the United Nations Global Compact has set up an International Platform for Action (Action Platform “Decent Work in Global Supply-Chains”) bringing together institutional partners, local UNGC networks (including Global Compact Network Italy) and companies from all over the world with the aim of planning concrete actions and developing tools that have an impact on the welfare of corporate workers along the supply chain.     On 18th May, the first of the fourBusiness & SDGs Workshops to be promoted by the Global Compact Network Italy Foundation in 2017 was held in Milan, as part of the activities program aimed at supporting the implementation of United Nations 2030 Global Goals. This first event, dedicated to the theme of "Sustainable Finance in Support of SDGs", was organized together with UNEP Inquiry and kindly hosted by Edison SpA.
