This year’s first meeting of the Founding Members of Global Compact Network Italy was held on May 21 at FEEM - Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei, in Milan. More than 30 representatives of member companies and organizations took part in the meeting. One of the objectives of the meeting was to elect the Network’s new Board of Directors and administration as part of the wider renewal of the Statutory Bodies, which takes place every three years.

The new Board of Directors is composed of 11 Members including: - 8 professionals from companies (two of them being SMEs) active in various production sectors; - 3 from the non-profit world. The business/non-business relationship within the new Board of Directors perfectly reflects the composition of the Network at the national level (2/3 companies, 1/3 stakeholder organizations).

Here is the new Board of Directors that will lead GCNI until May 2022:

  • Alessandro BEDA – Managing Director, Fondazione Sodalitas
  • Filippo Maria BOCCHI – Shared Value and Sustainability Director, Gruppo Hera
  • Paolo CARNEVALE – Executive Director, FEEM – Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei
  • Marco FREY – Partner, Ergo Srl, and President, Cittadinanzattiva
  • Stefano GARDI – Chief Sustainability Officer, Itelyum
  • Carlo GIUPPONI – Dean, VIU Venice International University and Professor of Applied Economics, Università Ca' Foscari
  • Chantal HAMENDE – Head of Plans, Projects and Reporting on Sustainability, Terna
  • Francesca MAGLIULO – Head of Sustainability and CSR, Edison
  • Cveta MAJTANOVIC - Creating Shared Values Brand Manager, Innovando
  • Carlo NICOLAIS – Head of Institutional Relations and Communication, Maire Tecnimont
  • Elizabeth SIMONPIETRO SALINI – CSR Director, Salini-Impregilo

Marco Frey has been appointed by the Council as the President of the Italian Global Compact Network for the third consecutive term; Filippo Maria Bocchi has taken over the vice-presidency. In the coming months, a new Secretary General will be identified and appointed.

The transition took place under many positive notes: GCNI is constantly growing and today has more than 100 profit and non-profit organizations participating as “Founding Members” or “Recipients of the activities”; in the last three years, the path to support the 2030 Agenda and its 17 sustainable development goals has been consolidated within the Network, whose main events are the CEO Meeting and the SDG Forum; the relationship of mutual exchange, comparison and alignment with the GC Offices in New York has progressively strengthened since the introduction of the new “One Global Compact” governance model, hence paving the way to more ambitious scenarios for the future in terms of active and incisive presence of the Network also at an international level.
