lenteHow do CSR Managers see their role nowadays and how do they expect it will change tomorrow? The CSR Manager Network promoted the research “Il ruolo del CSR Manager: Vissuti professionali e prospettive future” (CSR Manager: professional paths and career perspectives), in cooperation with ALTIS Graduate School Business and Society of Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore. The research studied the professional and educative background of CSR Managers, the characteristics of the job and career prospects.

The study confirms the managerial status of the role, as CSR Managers’ activities are scarcely ruled by procedures. Through a qualitative methodology, the research identifies 6 typical images (the so-called “retoriche occupazionali”) which aggregate different ways CSR Managers use to describe their role within the company: “facilitator of change”, “business oriented”, “prophet”, “values oriented”, “CSR controller” and “polyhedral”. As regards the future, the study identifies those issues that will most probably influence the evolution of CSR in companies: integrated reporting, human rights and Sustainable Development Goals. Other important areas of intervention for CSR Managers could be: work, stakeholder engagement activities and non-financial reporting.
