The Report “European Private Sector SDG Stocktake 2024,” presented in New York during the UN General Assembly week, analyzes the integration of the SDGs by companies in 10 European countries (Bulgaria, France, Greece, Ireland, Italy, United Kingdom, Serbia, Spain, Switzerland/Liechtenstein and Turkey) and highlights private sector engagement and areas for improvement. Out of a total sample of 1,422 companies surveyed, 52 percent of which are UN Global Compact adherents, the majority are SMEs (43 percent), followed by mid-cap companies (33 percent), micro-enterprises (13 percent) and large companies (11 percent). For Italy, 140 companies were surveyed, 79% of which are members of the Italian UN Global Compact Network.
The study found that 7 out of 10 European companies have an in-depth understanding of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by Agenda 2030, and 6 out of 10 are integrating them within their business strategy, focusing especially on gender equality, decent work and climate change.
