The end of the participation in the UN Global Compact may occur under the following circumstances:
- As a voluntary initiative, each Participant may freely withdraw its participation at any time. Notice of termination of participation must be given by a letter signed by the top management of the organization.
- Business and non-business participants who fail to submit their reports by the deadlines first acquire the status of “non-communicating” and subsequently are delisted from the initiative.
- The participation also lapses in the absence of payment of the annual fee, where it is mandatory.
- The participation may be questioned if serious integrity issues arise. In this case, expulsion is preceded by a discussion between the company, the Local Network and the Global Compact Offices in New York to clarify the issue and possibly remedy it.
