In 2023, UN Global Compact Network Italy established a Working Group on Sustainable Procurement, with the aim of deepening the issue of sustainable supply chain management as a cross-cutting aspect that links the social, environmental and economic dimensions and through which the private sector can have a concrete and positive impact on the 2030 Agenda.

The Working Group is reserved for a small number of business organizations participating in the UN Global Compact and it is aimed, in particular, at corporate representatives from procurement divisions to raise awareness on sustainable development issues. Participation in the Working Group is by invitation only.

In 2023, 3 meetings were held, respectively focusing on each of the three ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) dimensions. The work concluded with a larger final event in which suppliers were also involved, to triangulate with stakeholders involved in supply chains. The activities were implemented with the support of Edison.
