In mid-September KPMG Italy joined Bike2Work, a project co-financed by the European Community and the European Cyclists' Federation with the participation of 12 European countries. In Italy, the project was led and sponsored by Federazione Italiana Amici della Bicicletta ONLUS (FIAB), an environmental organization recognized by the Ministry of Environment as an association devoted to environmental protection.

Many large companies and major universities participated to the "Bike Challenge - Love to Ride", a fun competition aimed to encourage the shift from motorized commuting to cycling and was held on the occasion of "European Mobility Week 2015".

Employees were invited to join the initiative, to cycle for at least 10 minutes during the period of the Challenge, to record their ride on the website “Love To Ride” and save more CO2 consequently. The prize offered by KPMG to employees was a K-branded mountain bike.

The response of colleagues has been good: for example, in Milan more than 70 colleagues joined and 50 of them were active in the competition that ended in late October and the cyclist who saved CO2 most was assigned the prize.

This initiative, in particular, as others that gravitate around issues of environmental sustainability, mobility and welfare, demonstrates the growing interest of KPMG towards their own people and their communities.
